Product Review: Megatech Verticar
by RC Planes and Copters, July 2010
Look, up in the sky - it's a car, it's a helicopter: no, it's Verticar! Megatech's new 2-in-1 RC toy vehicle that combines the fun of remote control flying and driving. This electric Ready to Fly moves on land like a car when in running mode but with a flip of a transmitter switch converts to flying mode and will take off like a regular helicopter. Made for flying indoors and outside (but outdoors only in perfectly calm wind conditions). Verticar is attractive and comes in eye-pleasing, bright red or yellow colors. It is tiny (4.5" long with a main rotor 5.5" wide) and lightweight (just under an ounce).
Among its features are the ability to synchronize on one of 3 different channels, so that more than one Verticar can fly in the same area without causing interference; rechargeable on-board LiPo battery; and flashing LEDs for added visibility at dusk or when overcast. It comes fully assembled with everything you need except six AA batteries. The transmitter is used to charge the battery that's inside the Verticar.
For ages 8 and up and under $50.00, Verticar is a fun and unique remote control vehicle. While certainly more helicopter than car, it does something other copters can't do, and you might want to consider one for yourself or as a gift for a youngster who's interested in flying RC helicopters.
